Reso 1284-05/2007 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the Vallecitos Water District strongly supports a comprehensive water package that includes water storage, a comprehensive Delta solution (including conveyance and environmental protection) and water use efficiency; and WHEREAS, action is needed now in Sacramento to move forward with these investments to ensure Californians have the reliable water supply they deserve now and in the future. WHEREAS, despite ongoing investments in conservation, recycling and other water use efficiency programs, it will be increasingly difficult for California to support a strong economy and a healthy environment without investments in water storage and Delta sustainability as outlined in the Governor's package; and WHEREAS, without a comprehensive water solution and the investments proposed in the Governor's package, California's water system will not have the flexibility it needs to respond to the challenges ahead; and WHEREAS, this package presents a historic opportunity to provide needed water investments as the Governor, the Legislative and the media are focused on California water issues and the need for water solutions now; and WHEREAS, Governor Schwarzenegger has proposed a comprehensive water package as part of his Strategic Growth Plan for California that includes additional water storage, a comprehensive Delta solution and water use efficiency; and WHEREAS, the Association of California Water Agencies' 2005 water policy document, No time to Waste: A Blueprint for California Water, called for significant new investments to address these challenges and others as part of a comprehensive plan to meet the State's water needs in the coming decades; and WHEREAS, these challenges could severely erode the ability of local agencies to deliver reliable water to their urban and agricultural customers; and WHEREAS, California's water system is facing a growing list of challenges associated with climate change, aging infrastructure and Delta instability; and WHEREAS, this District is a member District of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA); and RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE VALLECITOS WATER DISTRICT SUPPORTING THE ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA WATER AGENCIES' ACTION PLAN "THE TIME IS NOW: BUILDING SUPPORT FOR A COMPREHENSIVE WATER PACKAGE" RESOLUTION NO. 1284 William W.
