RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF THE
VALLECITOS WATER DISTRICT
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR THE SERVICES OF
HARRY GRIFFEN
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Vallecitos Water District regrets the retirement of HARRY
GRIFFEN; and
WHEREAS, HARRY GRIFFEN has served most recently as an ex-officio member of the San Diego
County Water Authority Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, HARRY GRIFFEN previously represented the Helix Water District on the San Diego
County Water Authority Board of Directors from 1956 to 1995; and
WHEREAS, HARRY GRIFFEN has served in numerous positions at the San Diego County Water
Authority, including 17 years as Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, HARRY GRIFFEN has been involved with every important water-related issue affecting
San Diego County during the past 50 years, including the statewide effort to gain approval of legislation
authorizing the State Water Project in 1959; and
WHEREAS, HARRY GRIFFEN has been one of the San Diego County Water Authority's
representative to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Board of Directors since 1963, serving
as vice chair of this organization from 1979 to 1982; and
WHEREAS, HARRY GRIFFEN was a Director of the Helix Water District, which honored him by
naming a 50-acre park after him in 1985;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Vallecitos Water District
as follows:
SECTION 1: The Board of Directors of the Vallecitos Water District, on behalf of themselves, the
management, and personnel of the District and on behalf of the citizens of the District, does hereby express its
appreciation for the very valuable work accomplished by HARRY GRIFFEN.
SECTION 2: The contribution, diligent efforts, and selfless service of HARRy GRIFFEN on behalf
of the San Diego County Water Authority and his devoted loyalty are hereby commended as part of the permanent
records of the Vallecitos Water District.
SECTION 3: The Board of Directors, staff, and employees of the District, collectively and individually,
wish HARRY GRIFFEN the best foreroe in his future.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Vallecitos Water District at a regular
meeting held on this 17th day of July 1996 by the following roll call vote:
