Gentlemen:
Acting pursuànt to the request of the Board, I have made a study of
the projected use of water within the San Marcos County Water District for
the 1957-58 fiscal year with the view of raising approxiIIiate],y $47,000 in
water revenues for this period.
Based on the records available for the operation of the District since
JuJ;y- 1, 1956, it is estimated that the sale of water in the coming fiscal year.
will be 700 acre feet. Of this total 105 acre feet has been estimated in the
0-3000 cubic feet per month use; 30 acre feet in the 3-6000 cubic feet per
month use; 45 acre feet in the 6-10,000 feet per month use; am 520 acre feet
in over 10,000 cubic feet per month use.
It has been further estimated that the average number of meters connected
to our system for the next fiscal year will be 275 meters. With this use in mind,
it is necessary to set a water rate which will produce the required revenue while
remaining somewhat consistent with water rates of other similar districts. In
order to compare proposed water rates for San Marcos with rates of other distrièts,
I have made a study of the water costs in the Paway, Vista, Helix and Rincon Districts.
This water cost is outlined in Table I attached and compared to proposed water
rates "a", "b" and "c" for San Marcos. Comparing the proposed water rates "a",
"b" and "c" with the estimated number of meters ani the class of use for each
meter, the estimated revenues from water rates "a", "b" and "c" are tabulated in
Table II as follows:

the proposed water rate "c" of Table II. This figurè is reasonalbù;y close to
$47,000 :iJJ. water revenues which the Board requested and is therefore reconunended
to the Board. for adoption :iJJ. the coming fiscaJ. year.
