A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SAN MARCOS COUNTY
WATER DISTRICT CHANGING THE NAME OF THE SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
TO VALLECITOS WATER DISTRICT
WHEREAS, during the beginning development years, SAN MARCOS
COUNTY WATER DISTRICT acted primarily as a distributor of water and
collector of sewage for treatment and disposal within the SAN MARCOS COUNTY
WATER DISTRICT, to the inhabitants of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT; and
WHEREAS, during the last few years, the primary functions of
the SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT is to purvey retail water, wholesale
reclaimed water, and collect, treat and dispose of sewage effluent; and
WHEREAS, SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT, as well as other
water districts, serve retail water within the expanded boundaries of the
City of San Marcos, City of Carlsbad, City of Escondido, City of Vista and
areas of the unincorporated county of San Diego; and
WHEREAS, the existing name of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
has caused confusion among some retail water customers in securing prompt
retail water service, sewage collection and treatment services and other
types of water services; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER
DISTRICT deems it to the best interest of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
and its retail water, sewage collection, treatment and disposal and
reclaimed water sales customers to change its name; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER
DISTRICT deems it to the best interest of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
and its inhabitants to change to a name that is more descriptive of the
retail water, sewage collections, treatment and disposal, and reclaimed
water sales service area now served by SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT; and
WHEREAS, Section 31006 of the County Water District Law
provides that a district may, by resolution of the board of the district
spread on its minutes, change the name of the district. Such changed name
need not include the word "county."

NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER
DISTRICT DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
1. The name of the SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT is hereby
changed to VALLECITOS WATER DISTRICT.
2. In accordance with Section 31006 of the County Water District
Law, this resolution shall be spread on the minutes of the regular meeting
of the Board of Directors of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT held on April
17, 1989.
3. The Secretary of SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT shall cause
certified copies of this resolution to be recorded and distributed in
accordance with Section 31006 of the County Water District Law.
4. The name VALLECITOS WATER DISTRICT shall be in effect beginning
May 1, 1989.

Directors on the 17th day of April 1989, by the following roll call vote:
