AN ORDINANCE OF THE SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
PROHIBITING SMOKING IN THE DISTRICT BOARD ROOM OF THE
DISTRICT OFFICE DURING PUBLIC MEETINGS OF THE BOARD
OF DIRECTORS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER
DISTRICT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Smoking of tobacco, or any other weed or plant, may be a
source of danger to health and a cause of material annoyance, inconvenience, dis-
comfort and a health hazard to those who are present in confined places, and in
order to serve public health, safety and welfare; the declared purpose of this
Ordinance is to prohibit the smoking of tobacco, or any other weed or plant, in
the District Board Room of the District office during public meetings of the Board
of Directors.
Section 2: "Smoke" or "smoking" shall mean and include the carrying
of a lighted pipe, or lighted cigar, or lighted cigarette of any kind, or the
lighting of a pipe, cigar or cigarette of any kind.
Section 3: Smoking is prohibited in the District Board Room of the
District Office during public meetings of the Board of Directors.
Section 4: The District Manager shall post appropriate "NO -SMOKING"
signs, citing the prohibition of smoking by this Ordinance, in the District Board
Room.
Section 5: Wilfull violation of this Ordinance shall be disorderly
conduct disruptive of the meeting and the person or persons shall be removed from
the meeting and shall be readmitted only when the Board of Directors is satisfied
that such conduct will not be repeated.
Section 6: This Ordinance is effective on the date adopted and shall
be published one (1) time in a newspaper of general circulation and published within
the District.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED at a regular meeting of the Board of Directors
of the SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT held on April 16, 1979, by the following roll
call vote:
