RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE SAN MARCOS COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
CONCERNING PAYMENTS TO EMPLOYEES ON
ACCOUNT OF SICKNESS
WHEREAS, Federal law allows payments made to employees "on account
of sickness" to be excluded from covered wages for Social Security payments;
and;
WHEREAS, California Public Agencies lacked necessary legal authori-
zation to exclude wages paid for sickness from Social Security contributions;
and
WHEREAS, the State of California added Section 22017 to the Govern-
ment Code, effective January 1, 1980, allowing Public Agencies to establish
a separate object or subobject of appropriations (accoGnt or subaccount of
expenditures) solely for payment of wages on account of sickness, and there-
fore excluding said wages from Social Security contributions; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that'effective as of May 4,
1981, a separate account of expenditures be established in accordance with
Section 22017 of the Government Code for the purpose of excluding wages paid,
on account of employees' sickness or disability, from Social Security contri-
butions.
