VOTE AT THE JUNE 8, 1976 ELECTION.
WHEREAS, lands and residents of the County of San Diego, State
of California, are provided water predominately through the importa-
tion of water from outside of the County of San Diego;
WHEREAS, the importation of water into the County of San Diego
requires that vast amounts of water be pumped and the operation of
the pumps consumes substantial energy;
WHEREAS, water is a vital and essential resource as declared by
the Constitution, Statutes and decisional law of the State of
California;
WHEREAS, it is of utmost importance for the safety, health and
welfare of the citizens that water be made available at the lowest
possible cost to the consumer;
WHEREAS, the sources of energy other than nuclear energy, avail-
able to provide power to transport water into San Diego County such
as hydro-power or power from oil, coal, solar energy, geothermal

cause increased pollution of the atmosphere in comparison to the use
of nuclear energy;
WHEREAS, past experience with nuclear energy has demonstrated
that it is a safe, clean and economical source of power;
WHEREAS, a vote in favor of Proposition 15 would halt the con-
